Empowering Youth, Building a Peaceful and United South Sudan.

The South Sudan National Youth Union (SSNYU) was established in 2011, immediately following the country’s independence. As the official voice of young people in South Sudan, we are an independent, non-political, and non-profit organization dedicated to advocating for the rights and welfare of our nation’s youth.

With over 73% of the population under the age of 30, we recognize that young people are the country’s greatest asset. We are committed to addressing critical challenges from unemployment to peacebuilding through our Strategic Plan 2025–2029.

Our Vision

A united and prosperous South Sudan where all youth thrive, free from discrimination, and contribute to a peaceful and inclusive society.

Our Mission

To empower South Sudanese youth by enhancing institutional capacity, fostering youth innovation and entrepreneurship, advocating for their rights, increasing visibility through strategic partnerships, and ensuring their active participation in governance and peacebuilding efforts.

Our Mission

The SSNYU is governed by the National Executive Committee (NEC) and supported by a Secretariat responsible for daily implementation. The Executive Board is led by Chairperson Taban Paride, alongside Deputy Chairperson Motwakil Awol Mamuoras and Secretary General Emmanuel William Atit.
